Narendra Modi condemns Afghanistan attack

New Delhi/Kabul, July 23 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday condemned the attack in Afghanistan capital where twin explosions left at least 61 people dead.

"Strongly condemn dastardly terror attack on innocent civilians in Kabul. Sincerely condole loss of lives & injuries in senseless violence," Modi tweeted.

"India stands with Afghanistan in resolutely opposing all forms of terrorism," he said.

Twin explosions hit a mammoth rally staged by the Hazara minority in Afghanistan capital Kabul on Saturday which killed at least 61 people, media reports said.

According to local media reports, the explosions occurred  at around 2:30 pm.

Luqman, one of the rally participants, told Pajhwok Afghan News the first explosion happened near the Barikot Cinema and the second followed in Demazang Square.

The explosions have reportedly left more than 200 people injured.

Security officials  have cordoned off the area.
