Africa tour: Narendra Modi arrives in Tanzania on the third leg of his visit

Dar-es-Salaam, July 10 (IBNS): Calling his South Africa visit as a 'Tirth Yatra’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left the nation to commence his trip to Tanzania on Sunday.

Visiting the airport, Prime Minister of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa welcomed Modi to his nation.

Modi tweeted: "Landed to a lively welcome in Tanzania."

Speaking on the trip, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said: "A special gesture for a special visit. PM of Tanzania, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa welcomed PM @narendramodi at the airport."

Modi arrived in the nation from South Africa where he visited several places associated with India's  'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi.

"This South Africa visit has been a 'Tirth Yatra’ for me. Got an opportunity to visit places so closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi," Modi tweeted.

"My gratitude to the people & Government of South Africa for extending a warm welcome & the memorable hospitality during my stay here," he said.

He said the visit the nation 'satisfying'.

"Its been a satisfying South Africa visit, where I have been able to attend such a wide variety of programmes & interact with so many people," he said.

Modi is currently on a four-nation Africa tour.
