International Day of Yoga to be celebrated in big way in Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 19 (IBNS): The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) are all set to organize the 2nd International Yoga Day on June 21 at Connaught Place in New Delhi and its six radials and inner circles, roads along with the three gardens Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park and Talkatora Garden.
As many as about 10,000 participants will be performing the common protocol Yoga. 
 
Programme will start at 6.00 a.m. and common Protocol Yoga by all participants will start at 7:00 a.m. and go up to 7:45 a.m. 
 
The diplomats will participate in Yoga programme at Nehru Park. 
 
Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief guest, while Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung and Member of Parliament Meenakashi Lekhi be the guest of honour on the occasion and take part in the performing yoga event. 
 
Outlining the details of the Yoga event, Chanchal Yadav informed that volunteers from organizations like Patanjali Yoga Peetha, Art of Living, Maa Shakti, Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vidyalaya, Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar (Gayatri Pariwar), Moraji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Delhi Police, NDMC, CISF, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, Walking Volunteers, General Public, VVIPs and VIPs would perform the yoga on the occasion. 
 
The other attraction of the Yoga event would be the activities performed by eminent organizations, like ‘Ability Unlimited’ and it would present Yoga demonstration on wheel chair, Trisha Kali Martial Art will be presented by CISF, Cultural programme by the student of Jnanasindhu School for Blind, Karnataka, Yoga songs by NDMC school children. 
 
She further added that Sangram Singh would share his personal experience with the participants about the benefit of Yoga. 
 
In order to facilitate the participants of Yoga session, the NDMC in overall coordination with Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India is organizing the programme at Connaught Place, Nehru Park, Lodi Garden and Talkatora Garden. 
 
NDMC will make necessary arrangements like civic and basic facilities comprising of potable water, mobile toilet, ambulance and first-aid desk at all sites of the Yoga events. 
 
The parking arrangement would be made for the convenience of the participants at Shivaji Stadium, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg, Jai Singh Road, Jantar Mantar for Buses. While the Car Parking facilities would be available at Shivaji Stadium Parking, Shanker Market – Fire Brigade Lane, underground parking of NDMC building, Jai Singh Road, Jantar Mantar and Jeevan Bharti Building of Sansad Marg. 
 
Public Service Undertakings (PSUs) like Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC), National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) have extended their support in organising it. 
 
As a build-up campaign, yoga camps are being organized at Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden and Nehru Park. The special yoga sessions are being held at Raahgiri at Connaught Place from June 4 onwards. 
 
Chanchal Yadav explained that in order to promote yoga and general well being of the citizens, NDMC has decided to continue yoga programme on regular basis at least six days in a week in morning hours at Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park and Talkatora Garden in collaboration with the Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga Peeth and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and sites have been identified for the purpose. 
 
The United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21st as the International Yoga Day on December 11, 2014. Accordingly the first International Yoga Day Celebration was organized at Rajpath in New Delhi on June 21, 2015.
