Army join hands with Tata Motors for training to Kashmiri youth

Srinagar, June 3 (IBNS) As part of Army initiative to ameliorate the unemployed youth, an event was flagged off from Udhampur by Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command, wherein, 29 youth from Kashmir were selected for training at Tata Motors as part of a joint initiative between the Indian Army and TATA motors.

 The youth will undergo a thirteen weeks of certified training in Automobile Service Technician Course at the TATA Motors facility at Ropar, Punjab.

TATA Motors has also committed to offer employment to these youth at various TATA Motors authorised dealerships in the state and elsewhere in India based on their performance during the training. 

A MoU was also signed between Sadbhavana of the Army and TATA Motors to further cement this relationship for further engagements in the future, read a government statetemt.  

The aim of this employment drive is to ensure that the youth of the state get an opportunity to enhance their vocational skills, set benchmark for others to emulate and to channelise energy of youth in constructive way.

Sanjeev Garg, Vice President and Global Head TML advised the trainees to make full use of this opportunity provided by the Army and to use this as a spring board to even establish their own workshops besides getting skilled jobs. He highlighted that the motive of this collaboration with Army is to create quality standards in skill development industry and assist in increasing employment opportunities for the youth.
