Bhilai gas leak: Modi speaks to Chhattisgarh CM

New Delhi, June 13 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday morning and assured him of all necessary assistance for rescue and relief operations, and treatment for those affected by the gas leak incident at the Bhilai Steel Plant.

 The Prime Minister offered his condolences to the family members of those who lost their lives in the accident.

Modi also spoke to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and directed that the Union government coordinate with the state government’s relief operations at Bhilai Steel Plant, and to ensure that all possible assistance is offered to those affected by the incident.

The death toll in the gas leakage at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)'s Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh's Durg district rose to six on Friday, said reports.

According to reports, over 35 people were affected in the incident.

At least six people were killed and several others fell ill following leakage of poisonous gas at the Bhilai Steel Plant on Thursday.

According to reports, two Deputy General Managers were killed in the mishap.

The injured people were admitted to hospital.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh tweeted: "My heart goes down for families of deceased @ BSP Bhilai.In touch with Union Ministers & local administration for relief & rescue operations."
