New Delhi, Apr 5 (IBNS): In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Monday criticised on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the issue of allocation of funds to state cricket associations.

The apex court criticised the board while hearing an affidavit over the issue of implementation  of Lodha Commmittee's recommendations.

Coming down heavily on the board, the court said funds have been distributed by it like a "mutually beneficial society".

The court told the board that it should not say that recommendations made by the Lodha Committee could not be implemented.

The Lodha Panel laid down certain rules pertaining to elections in the national cricket board in January this year.

According to the new rules, no ministers will be allowed to contest BCCI elections. The panel have also laid down other rules for the same.

In the newly published report by the Supreme Court appointed committee, only an Indian can apply for any of the top BCCI post, albeit he cannot me more than 70 years old or be a government servant.
