Jamshedpur, Jan 25 (IBNS): Acting on a tip off, police on Monday arrested two Al-Qaeda suspects from Jharkhand's steel city Jamshedpur, few hours ahead of the Republic Day, reports said.
According to reports, two suspected Al-Qaeda sleeper cell members- Ahmed Masood Akram Sheikh and Nasim Akhtar- were booked from two different locations in Jamshedpur city.

Senior Superintended of Jamshedpur District Police (SSP), Anoop T Maithu told IBNS, "After getting specific information, two Al-Qaeda operatives- Ahmed Masood Akram Sheikh alias Monu and Nasim Akhtar alias Raju- have been arrested today from Dhatkidih and Zakirnagar area near Mango respectively in Jamshedpur city."

"They are the members of Al-Qaeda's sleeper cell. They used to motivate youths of Jamshedpur and other parts of Jharkhand to join the terrorist organization and expand it. We are interrogating them to know about the others of this module. Our search operation is still underway at different locations in the steel city," Maithu further said.

According to police reports, one of the arrested operatives- Masood- got terrorist training earlier in Pakistan's terrorist camp.

After receiving warning of terrorist attack on the Republic Day from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), all states' police forces have tightened security and boosted search operations to book suspects. At least 19 suspected terrorists including ISIS operatives have been nabbed so far from different states across India, reports said.
