CBI arrest Union Bank of India Manager in graft charges

New Delhi, Jan 11 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday said it has arrested a Manager of the Union Bank of India, Regional Office, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) for allegedly demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.40,000.

"The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Manager(Security), Union Bank of India, Regional Office, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) for demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the complainant," the CBI said in a statement.

"A case was registered against the Manager (Security), Union Bank of India, Regional Office, Bhubaneswar U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on the allegations that the said accused demanded bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the complainant for passing his bill in respect of Security Guards provided to ATMs of the said bank," it said.


The CBI said it had laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000 from the complainant.

"Searches were conducted at the residential premises of accused person which led to recovery of incriminating documents showing investment & land documents etc," the CBI said.

In another case, CBI said it has arrested Senior Section Engineer (Works), North Eastern Railways, Kashipur(Uttarakhand) for demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant.

"A case was registered against Senior Section Engineer (Works), North Eastern Railways, Kashipur (Uttarakhand) U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on the allegations that the SSE(W) demanded bribe of Rs.10,000/- and agreed to accept the same from the complainant for settling his pending bills. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the office& residence of the accused at Kashpur(Uttarakhand) which led to revovery of some incriminating documents," read the statement.
