Huge number of BJP supporters attempted to break the police-barricades.

The protesters clashed and allegedly pelted bricks and stones at the police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF).

Police restored to lathicharge and lobbed tear-gas shells to disperse protesters.

Few BJP supporters and policemen were reportedly injured in the clash.

Agitating  on the same issue, the BJP held law violation programme at several locations across the state in the past two days.

BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh was injured on Thursday in a clash with police during law violation at Barasat in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
