WB: Theatre personality assaulted by anti-socials, 4 arrested

Kolkata, Nov 11 (IBNS): One theatre artist was allegedly beaten up by anti-socials at Ananda Lok Para under Madhyamgram Police Station area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Tuesday night, reports said.

According to reports, theatre artist Subhadeep Guha protested against the illegal activities of local anti-socials on Tuesday night. Local anti-socials called few outsiders and allegedly attacked Subhadeep Guha badly.

Subhadeep Guha was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. After first aid, he was released from the hospital.

However, a complaint was lodged against the accused under few IPC sections including 341 (Wrongful restraint), 325 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 307 (Attempt to murder), 506 (Criminal intimidation) and 34 (Criminal acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

On the basis of the complaint, police arrested four accused- Rahul Chowdhury, Sujan De, Animesh Ghosh and Biswajit Roy- in connection with the incident. They were produced in Barasat Court on Wednesday and sent to police custody for two days.

One senior official of North 24 Parganas district police told IBNS: "We have arrested four persons. Court has sent them to police custody for further interrogation. We will interrogate them to catch the other outsiders, involved in the matter."

Theatre personality and West Bengal Tourism Minister Bratya Basu told IBNS, "It is a very bad incident. I am condemning it. The police took necessary actions very fast."
