Nitish Kumar thanks Mamata Banerjee : What shape their relationship will take ?

Kolkata, Nov 10 (IBNS) Reciprocating Mamata Banerjee's open support to the grand alliance that trounced the BJP-led NDA in Bihar Assembly elections, Nitish Kumar on Monday thanked her- a bonhomie being closely watched.

However,  the West Bengal Chief Minister is not sure if she can attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bihar's Chief Minister.

"When I went for his last swearing in, I had congratulated Nitishji for his next swearing in," Banerjee said on the sidelines of a festive meet with industrialists in Kolkata. "I have some visits to the districts planned so let's see," she said.

Nitish Kumar  is expected to take oath as chief minister  next week.

Banerjee had gone to Patna in February this year when Nitish Kumar returned to power after ousting his erstwhile protege Jitan Ram Manjhi.

Banerjee has advocated a federal front of regional parties against the BJP ever since she walked out of the NDA. So far, her efforts have not borne fruit.

The cosy space between Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee has made political analysts curious about the shape their relation may take in future, especially when West Bengal goes to Assembly polls next year, giving rise to the question who the Bihar strongman will support-Trinamool Congress or the CPI(M)-led Left Front.

The Left has also hailed the grand alliance's victory in Bihar while coining the slogan "Modi Bhai Didi Bhai," to project that the BJP and the Trinamool Congress are in a secret alliance of convenience.

CPM politburo member and Bengalks leader of opposition Surya Kanta Mishra tweetd saying, "#ModiBhaiDidiBhai 2sides of d same coin. She wl also face d same.Ppls averse to her anti-demo. soft communal politics. (sic)"

CPM lawmaker Md Salim tweeted, "Bengal wl drive home #BiharVerdict over intolerance by rejecting @narendramodi & ousting fellow intolerant @MamataOfficial #DidiBhaiModiBhai. (sic)"

BJP chief Amit Shah had recently said that after Bihar the BJP would turn its attention to Bengal.

However, as Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav said on Sunday, "BJP had planned to win Bihar and march to Bengal. We have stopped their march to Kolkata."
