UN Flag to be flown on Government Buildings on UN Day

India Blooms News Service | | 21 Oct 2015, 04:51 pm
New Delhi, Oct 21 (IBNS) The United Nations flag will be flown along with the National Flag on all buildings on which the Indian National Flag is regularly flown on Oct 24 to mark the United Nations Day.

The UN Flag can be displayed on either side of the National Flag.

"The general practice is to fly the National Flag on the extreme right with reference to the direction which it is facing, i.e. extreme left of an observer facing the masts flying the Flags," read a government statement.

"Necessary instructions have been issued to the Ministry of Urban Development and Ministry of External Affairs for conveying the same to all Embassies/High Commissions of India," it said.

The UN Flag is, however, not flown on Rashtrapati Bhawan, Vice-President’s House, Parliament House and Supreme Court building.
