Mamata Banerjee supports Missionaries of Charity's decision to stop offering adoption

Kolkata, Oct 11 (IBNS): West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday supported the Missionaries of Charity's decision to stop offering child for adoption.

"We fully support Missionaries of Charity and Sister Prema in their decision to opt out of adoption programme. They have a right to do so. Essence of India is unity in diversity. This is the pillar of our great nation," Banerjee tweeted.

Following the revised adoption rules, issued by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), the Missionaries of Charity, which was formed by Mother Teresa in 1950, on Saturday officially announced their decision of shutting down its child adoption work in the country.
