Kolkata/South 24 Parganas, Sept 15 (IBNS): A local court in Diamond Harbour in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday granted bail to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Dipak Halder who was arrested for allegedly taking part in a clash between two groups of students at Fakir Chand College in Diamond Harbour area on Monday.

Two groups of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) engaged in a clash with each other on Monday and local MLA Dipak Halder went to the spot and allegedly led one group during the clash. He also allegedly threatened the police officers.

After getting direction from WB chief minister Mamata Banerjee, police arrested Dipak Haldar and he was produced to the Diamond Harbour court on Tuesday.

After getting bail, Dipak Halder told IBNS: "I became a victim of conspiracy. If I was not present at the college that time, over five students might have been killed in the clash."
