Kolkata, Aug 28 (IBNS): West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said that Left parties' rally to state's main administrative building, Nabanna was diabolical rampage.
While addressing a public meeting here arranged by Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s students' wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) at Esplanade area in Kolkata on Friday, Mamata Banerjee said: "Left's rally to Nabanna was diabolical rampage. Protesters brought bricks, bombs, sticks and stones in their trucks. After getting injured by their attacks, police controlled the situation very well. I ordered the police to deal the situation peacefully. They did their best, from top to bottom. Otherwise, we needed just one minute to control such movement."

"I noticed one Left leader was giving instruction to throw bricks and stones to the police force. If you are thinking to come into power in 2016, don't think, you will not come back to power even in 3016's election," she said.

Agitating several issues, the Left peasant associations' called  a rally to state's main administrative building Nabanna on Thursday which turned violent when protesters threw bricks aiming at the police and the police restored to lathicharge in Kolkata. Few protesters and policemen were injured during the clash.

Talking about the country-wide general strike on Sept 2 called by Left's employees' unions, Banerjee said, "People of West Bengal don't want strike. Nobody can stop state's life, calling strikes and blockades."

Countering Mamata Banerjee's statement, WB CPI-M's secretory Suryakanta Mishra said, "Who did the diabolical rampage yesterday, everybody noticed. You said that you could control our moment in a minute, lets try. Few policemen were injured yesterday, that was very unfortunate. Want to say that our general strike on Sept 2 is going to be historical."

Meanwhile, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Chowdhury on Friday announced to support the strike on Sept 2.

"We will support the general strike on Sept 2 called by the Lefts. In their rally to Nabanna, they did the right action," Chowdhury said.
