WB: Student killed in clash inside college campus

Kolkata, Aug 7 (IBNS): A college student was allegedly killed by Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) members during a clash on Friday inside a college campus in West Midnapore district of West Bengal, reports said.

According to reports, Congress Chhatra Parishad (CP) activist Krishna Prasad Jana, a B.A. third year student of Sabang Sajanikanta Mahavidyalaya (Sabang College), was allegedly killed during a clash between CP and TMCP inside the college campus.

Condemning the incident, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told media: "The incident at Sabang is sad and shameful. The police has been asked to take strict action."

State Education Minister Partha Chaterjee said: "It is indeed a very unfortunate and sad incident. I am trying to gather all information related to the entire incident. Then we will take action against the accused."

Congress leader Manas Bhunia went to the spot.

He told IBNS: "It is an unfortunate incident that Krishna Prasad Jana, a 3rd Year B. A. student of Sabang College,  was brutally killed by anti-socials  lead by Tarun Mishra and Bipul Maity along with TMCP activists, today inside the college campus. I request to student community to  please come forward and protest against this brutally. We will start protest movement from tomorrow."

Opposition leader of state legislative assembly Suryakanta Mishra told IBNS, "It is a very unfortunate incident. All people and students of Bengal should protest against it."

However, the CP has called a student strike in the state on Saturday.
