Mamata spends Sunday night in office to monitor Bengal flood situation

Kolkata, Aug 3 (IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spent Sunday night in the state secretariat to monitor the flood situation in the state, being pounded by incessant rain following a deep depression of the Bay of Bengal.

The depression has been  created in the aftermath of  Cyclone Komen which has hit large parts of Bengal, Odisha and Manipur.

About 70 people, including 48 in West Bengal, have died so far.

Incessant rain has left large parts of 12 districts of West Bengal inundated. About two lakh people are staying in relief camps.

Banerjee is expected to visit the North 24 Parganas district on Monday.later in the day.
