ED moves court seeking non-bailable warrant against Lalit Modi

Mumbai, Jul 27 (IBNS) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday moved a sessions court in Mumbai seeking a non-bailable warrant against former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi, reports said.

ED had served a notice to Modi on July 3 asking him to turn up in court within two weeks in connection with a case under  the Prevention of Money Laundering Act

As Modi failed to reply, the  agency then served him an additional notice via email setting July 22 as the last date to respond.

The former IPL commissioner on Saturday claimed that he had not got any notice from the ED in the money laundering case.

The Lalit Modi issue continues to rock Parliament as the opposition refuse to allow normal transaction of both houses and are demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who had allegedly helped the cricket tycoon get travel documents. The Minister, however, has denied the allegation.
