Srinagar, Jul 18 (IBNS) As violent mobs fought police and waved Pakistani flags on the Eid day throwing a challenge to the law enforcing machinery in Jammu and Kashmir , the Bharatiya Janata Party said it will not let such incidents happen again.

"We are concerned with this development. We won't let this happen again. We will take strict action. There are some people who do not want peace in the state. State government is serious in curbing such incident,"BJP's new state-in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir Avinash Rai said.

BJP is partner of the People's Democratic Party in the J&K government.

Protests against house detention of senior Hurrtiyat leader Syed Ali Geelani were held in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir including Anantnag and Srinagar after the Eid prayers on Saturday. Pakistani flags were also raised during the protests.

Police used batons and fired tear gas cannisters to bring the situation under control.

At some places in Srinagar city, masked youths waved Pakistani and ISIS flags.

Geelani was not allowed to offer prayers in a mosque on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr as he remained under house arrest since his return from New Delhi on April 15.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has blamed the Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP), a partner of the People's Democratic Party-led government in Jammu and Kashmir.
