New Delhi, July 4 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated people who cleared the Civil Services Examination.

"Congratulations to all those who successfully cleared the Civil Services Exam & my best wishes as you begin the journey to serve the nation," Modi tweeted.

"To those who didn't clear the exam- such moments are a part of life. This must not deter you from your future endeavours. My best wishes," he said.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Saturday announced its civil services exam for this year where four women topped the ranks.

A total number of 1236 candidates have been recommended for appointments to Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and different Central services posts.

Ira Singhal, Renu Raj, Nidhi Gupta and Vandana Rao hold the first four positions in the examination.

Ira is a Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer from Delhi.
