Climate change a long-term threat to heritage sites including Elephanta Caves

Paris/Mumbai, May 30 (IBNS) A study conducted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), and the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) found that nearly 31 natural and cultural World Heritage sites in 29 countries across the world, including Elephanta Caves (near Mumbai) from India, are becoming increasingly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
