India reports over 50,000 Covid-19 cases, tally touches 83.64 lakh

New Delhi/IBNS: India, which has been reporting a steady decline in Novel Coronavirus cases over the last several days, registered over 50,000 Covid-19 cases on Thursday.

With 50,210 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the tally of infections has touched 83,64,086.

In the same period, 704 people, who were infected with the virus, died taking the toll to 1,24,315.

The active cases, which have steadily declined in the last few days, are now 5,27,962.

The national recovery rate has further improved to 92.20% with 77,11,809 people recovering from the respiratory disease since the outbreak of the virus in India in late January.

As Delhi reported over 6,000 Covid-19 cases for the first earlier this week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the national capital is witnessing the third wave of the contagion.

Delhi on Tuesday reported 6,725 Covid-19 cases taking the tally to over 4,00,000.
