COVID-19 toll in West Bengal touches 3,945

Kolkata/UNI: The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 3,945 with the death of 58 persons on Sunday , while the tally touched 2,02,708 with 3215 new confirmed cases.

According to the latest State Government HealtH bulletin, the active cases accounted for 23,624, while the number of discharged cases stood at 1,75,139.

The percentage of discharged rose to 86.40 per cent.

The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 24,70,058 with 47,318 tested in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Balurghat in South Dinajpur Sukanta Majumdar and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Bengal Shanta Chhetri today tested Covid-19 positive.

Taking to his twitter handle, Majumdar said, "I have tested #Covid19 positive today. I am doing well & taking doctors advice."

" Requesting all those who have come in close contact with me in the last few days to monitor their health and get tested in case of any symptoms," he added.

Majumdar, who represents the Balurghat Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal, is in Delhi, where he underwent COVID-19 test and tested positive.

" I would like to inform you that I am the latest infect of Covid 19. I request all those who have come in contact with me in the past two weeks to go for Covid 19 lab test, " Chhetri posted on Facebook.

" And follow complete government procedure till your reports are out," she said.

The Monsoon session will start from Monday and COVID tests have been made mandatory for those attending it.

It might be mentioned that on September 11, Jalpaiguri BJP MP Jayanta Roy also tested positive for COVID-19.
