New Delhi/IBNS: India, which has been adding the biggest daily spike in Novel Coronavirus cases, reported 78,357 new infections in the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to close to 38 lakh.

With 1,045 new deaths in the last one day, the Covid toll has now touched 66,333.

However, the recovery rate has also been steady in the country of 1.3 billion people as the total discharged cases went past 29 lakh with the recovery of 62,026 patients in 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

India's Unlock 4, the fourth phase of staggered reopening of economic and social activities in the country, began on Monday.

As per the latest guidelines issued by the central government, all metro services have been allowed to resume while open-air theatres are permitted with strict Covid-19 protocols.

Some states like Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have decided to reopen pubs, in a significant step to refuel the economic activities succeeding the anti-Covid lockdown for months.
