Assam COVID-19 count stands at 1100 with 43 new cases

Guwahati/UNI: After breaching the 1000-mark yesterday, the COVID 19 tally of Assam continued to increase with 43 new cases detected today so far, taking the overall tally to 1100.

State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the new cases through Twitter.

Among the new cases, five each have been reported from Dhubri and Golaghat, three from Barpeta, and one from Bongaigaon.

The minister said 29 have been detected at different laboratories and the districts are yet to be confirmed.

The state has been witnessed a massive spike in COVID 19 tally, with highest number of new cases in a single day (177 cases) detected yesterday.

The number of cases has doubled since May 25, when the 500-mark was reached, to cross 1000 yesterday.

The number of active cases now stands at 968, while 125 have been discharged and four have died so far.
