Covid-19 cases touch 50 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar/UNI:  The number of coronavirus positive cases in Odisha went up to 50 as two more persons tested positive last night, state Health and Family Welfare department sources here today said.

Official sources said out of 298 samples tested on Friday, two were found to be positive.Till date, the government has tested 3547 people in the state and 3497 have been found to be negative.

In a tweet, the Health department said “ happy to share that another 10 COVID patients have recovered and tested negative for COVID-19. Earlier two more had recovered and discharged from the hospitals.'

Out of the 50 COVID-19 positive patients, one died, 12 have been cured and the rest 37 active cases, including two minor girls, are undergoing treatment at the Covid hospitals in the state.

Meanwhile ,Director of Medical Education and Training Dr. C B K Mohanty claimed that the present Covid 19 data in the state indicated that there is no community transmission and Odisha is still in Phase II.

As per the data, five persons from Bhubaneswar, two from Bhadrak and one each from Cuttack, Jajpur and Puri have recovered. Earlier,two persons from Bhubaneswar were recovered and discharged from the hospitals.

The Health department sources said the lady doctors and nurses are screening and treating the suspects in the hospitals.

The ANM, AWW and ASHA workers are moving from house to house to check the health status of the people and the SHGs are busy preparing masks in the state.

The COBAS machine was installed in the RMRC here substantially enhancing the testing capacity. With the installation of the COBAS, the second to be installed in the RMRC centres across the country, the centre would be now in a position to test 1000 patients.

The state government had already extended the lock down period to April 30 throughout the state and announced that all educational institutions in the state will remain closed till June 17 next.
