6.8 earthquake hits near India-Myanmar border
New Delhi, Jan 4 (IBNS): Strong earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter Scale hit near India-Myanmar border on Monday, officials said.
According to United States Geological Survey (USGS) website, the epicentre of the quake was located in 38 km north-west of Mayang Imphal.
The quake occurred at 23:05:20 UTC.
Tremors of the quake was felt in northeast India and West Bengal.
In Kolkata, panicked people rushed out of their residence on streets.
No casualty has been reported so far.
