Nagpur/IBNS: Three people, including a woman, were killed when a car in which they were travelling was washed away while crossing a bridge amid heavy rains in Nagpur's Savner tehsil.

What's more painful was the sight of an arm that could be seen sticking out the car window and resting on its roof as the vehicle is surrounded by water on all sides.

While a significant number of people are seen watching from the sidelines, no one step into the water to rescue the victims. They are rather seen busy taking videos on their mobile phones.

Six people were reported to be travelling in the vehicle. Search is underway for the other three, said police.

The victims, belonging to Multai in Madhya Pradesh, were returning from a wedding in Nagpur, the police added.

As many as 83 people have died in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra between June 1 and July 10, the state disaster management authority said in a report on Monday.

Several parts of the state, including Mumbai and its adjoining areas, witnessed heavy rainfall between June 1 and July 10.
