Govt to look into complaints against Flipkart's 'Big Billion Day' sale

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IBNS): The government is likely to look into the issue whether more clarity is needed on e-commerce retail business, media reports said.

The move was taken following complaints from traders on Flipkart’s (an-commerce platform) massive discount sale titled ‘Big Billion Day’ offering steep discounts on various products. The grand sale was kicked off on Monday.

Union commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said: “We have received many inputs. Lot of concerns has been raised. Now there are many complaints. We will study the matter. We will look into it.”

Sitharaman also assured that the government would look into the matter of considering a policy for e-commerce retailing, sources said.

“Whether there is a need for a separate policy or some kind of clarification is needed, we will make it clear soon," Sitharaman said.
