Indian benchmark indices close higher on Tuesday

Mumbai, Oct 3 (IBNS): The Indian market closed higher on Tuesday with BSE Sensex up 213.66 points at 31,497.38 and NSE Nifty up 70.90 points at 9,859.50.

Meanwhile, the Monetary Policy Committee, headed by RBI governor Urjit Patel, on Tuessday, began its two-day deliberations. The outcome of the deliberations will be known on Wednesday.

Top gainers on Tuesday included Tata Motors, Tata Motors (D), GAIL, Asian Paints, Bharti Infratel, Reliance, UPL, Aurobindo Pharma and Bajaj Auto while Maruti Suzuki, Power Grid Corp, Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, SBI and Cipla declined.
