Reliance Jio launches smart phone at free of cost effectively, offers unlimited data and voice calls

Mumbai, July 21 (IBNS): Making yet another revolution in the telecom industry, Reliance Jio launched smart phone in the market virtually at a free of cost price effectively on Friday.

The telecom company announced the availability of smart phones at Rs 1, 500 which will be refunded in three years time.

Adding to that, the Jio phone users will get an unlimited data at 153 rupees per month. Jio would also offer free voice calls.

The phone has 2.4 inch display. and supports  4G VoLTE for calls and data.

The announcement was made by The Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the company's 40th Annual General Meeting.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, stated that pre-booking of Jio phones will begin from August 24.

Boosting the Make In India initiative, Ambani announced all Jio phones will be manufactured in the country. "We are targeting to provide five million phones per week."

Speaking about the latest initiative by Jio, Ambani said: "With Jio, our life will be digital and beautiful. It will make 2G feature phones obsolete."

Last year, in a similar announcement, Reliance Jio offered three months initial free service to all its users, which was later extended till March 31 this year.

Ambani also announced its venture in cable television as it would provide phone-Cable TV connection at Rs 309 per month.
