Jio crosses 100 million customer base, Mukesh Ambani launches Prime offer
Ambani also annouinced the launch of Jio Prime services that offers subscribers unlimited benefits for 12 more months, till March 31, 2018.
"Jio has crossed 100 million customer base in 170 days of its launch...The milestone belongs to the Jio community," he said.
Ambani said Jio has added on an average 7 customers per second, which is "an achievement of India and Indians."
He said the Prime service offer will open on March 1 and close on March 31, Mr Ambani said. Under Jio's Happy New Year offer, customers can enjoy free data and voice services till March 31, 2017.
To enrol for the Prime offer, existing and new subscribers of Jio (till March 31) will have to pay a one-time fee of Rs. 99.
Jio Prime offer will come at an introductory price of Rs. 303/month, effectively just Rs. 10/day, Ambani said.
Stating that Jio users consumed 100 crore GB of data, Ambani said it is as much as the entire US and nearly 50 per cent more mobile data as China.
"Today India is the number one country in the world in terms of mobile data...we will double Jio’s data capacity in coming months," he said.
Jio launched its trial services on September 5, 2016 and since then the company has been offering free voice and data services to its customers.
