Indian stock exchanges closed on Monday owing to public holiday

Mumbai, Mar 7 (IBNS) The Indian stock markets were closed on Monday owing to a public holiday (Mahashivratri).

The Indian benchmark indices, for the week ended March 4, gained over six per cent but its future will be dependent on global and domestic cues, according to media reports.

On the global front, major Asian markets, except Japan, fared well on Monday and posted gains.  

China announced its new economic targets announced at the National People's Congress (NPC) meeting over the weekend, according to media reports.
