Indian Market: Sensex touches new peak at 65,205.05 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex remained on top for the fourth straight session on Monday, breaching 65K level at 65,205.05, surging 486.49 pts on strong global peer.

The Nifty too gained 133.50 pts at 19,322.55 pts.

The Sensex opened on a strong note at 64,836.16, rising 118 pts.

Throughout the session it remained in green. As it registered days high at 65,300.35, up 582 pts before closing at 65,205.05, up 486.49 pts from its previous close.

In stocks Oil and Gas was a major gainer, up 2.28 pc followed by Energy by 2.08 pc, Metal by 1.11 pc, FMCG by 1.09 pc and Financial services by 1.02 pc.

In 30 scrips, ITC was a star gainer rising 3.12 pc to Rs 465.75, Reliance Industries by 2.52 c to Rs 2615, Bajaj finance by 2.38 pc to Rs 7330, SBI by 2.16 pc to Rs 585.15 and HDFC by 1.77 pc to Rs 2871.40.

The losers were Powergrid by 1.71 pc to Rs 250.75, Sun Pharma by 1.62 pc to Rs 1034.35, Maruti Suzuki by 1.12 pc to Rs 9676.75, TCS by 0.86 pc to Rs 3272.10 and Tech Mahindra by 0.83 pc to Rs 1121.20.

The Mid cap increased by 2.28 pc and Small cap by 2.08 pc.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while 15 declined.

In Asian Market, Nikki .225 up by 1.67 pc, Strait Times up by 0.04 pc.
