New Delhi: iPhone maker Apple is constantly increasing its presence in India, and the government is in regular contact with the company to facilitate the expansion, said Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, media reported.

He explained that the electronics industry typically begins by establishing a basic setup and then gradually incorporating different components to enhance their ecosystem.

Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron are the electronics manufacturers that manufacture iPhones for Apple in India.

Apple is set to open its inaugural retail store in Mumbai on April 18 and another in Delhi on April 20, marking its first official stores in India.

It is seen as a significant move by the company to expand its presence in the Indian market, which is one of the fastest-growing smartphone markets in the world.

The company currently retails its products in India through a network of exclusive Apple Premium Reseller (APR) stores, multi-brand retail stores, large format retail chains like Reliance Digital, Croma, as well as e-commerce platforms.

In India, Apple has more than 100 APR stores that exclusively sell Apple products.
