Indian Market: Sensex falls 151.60 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday dropped 151.60 pts to settle at 61,033.55 on profit booking amid weak European Market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 45.80 pts at 18,157.

The Sensex opened at new high at 61,304.28, up 119 pts. It was surged nearly 262 pts at 61,447.23, days high.

In late trade, it was tumbled down 280 pts at 60,905.15, days low, before closing at 61,033.55, down 151.60 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low t 18,296.40 and 18,117.50 pts respectively.

The indices like Realty, Metal, Consumer Durable and Health Care stocks dragged the market.

In scrips, Powergrid was a major loser, slipped 3.99 pc to Rs 218.90, Tech Mahindra by 2.48 pc to Rs 1027.45, Sun Pharma by 1.49 pc to Rs 1012.45, Hind Unilever by 1.46 pc to Rs 2495 and NTPC by 1.34 pc to Rs 173.35.

The gainers were ITC by 1.97 pc to Rs 360.40, Dr Reddy's laboratories by 1.12 pc to Rs 4536 and IndusBank by 0.37 pc to Rs 1148.60.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.52 pc and Small Cap by 0.33 pc.

In 30 scrips, 6 advanced 24 declined.

European markets were slightly lower on Wednesday as global investors await the results of the US midterm elections.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 was eased 0.4 per cent in early trade.

While US stock futures were seen flat.
