Indian Market: Sensex moves down 224.11 pts

Mumbai: Snapping four days rally, the BSE Sensex dropped 224.11 points to settle at 60,346.97 as selling was seen in IT, Technology, Oil and Gas and Capital Goods stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell 66.30 points at 18,003.75.

The Sensex slumped 1154 pts to open at 59,417.12. It was tumbled down by 1154 pts at 59,417.12, days low, in late trade it was erased earlier losses, but closed in negative only at 60,346.97, sliding 224.11 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 18,091.55 and 17,771.15 pts respectively.

In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a major loser, down by 4.48 pc to Rs 1216.40, Powergrid by 2.58 pc to Rs 232.50, NTPC by 2.57 pc to Rs 171.65, SBI by 2.39 pc to Rs 571.60 and Kotak Bank by 0.70 pc to Rs 1955.45.

The gainers were Infosys by 4.53 pc to Rs 1475, TCS by 3.36 pc to Rs 3120.85, Tech Mahindra by 2.61 pc to Rs 1117.45 and HCL Technology by 2.44 pc to Rs 932.30.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.10 pc and Small Cap by 0.01 pc.

In 30 scrips,15 advanced while 15 declined.
