GAIL hands over 7 tippers, 142 tri-cycles to MCC

Chandigarh/UNI:) Supporting the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ campaign in the city, GAIL (India) Limited on Wednesday handed over seven tippers (dumpers) and 142 tri-cycle carts to the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

GAIL Independent Director Sanjay Tandon handed over the vehicles to IAS, Special Commissioner, MCC Sanjay Jha at a ceremony organised at community centre, Sector 29-B, here on Wednesday in presence of Chairman, Sanitation Committee & area Councillor Shakti Parkash Devshali, programme coordinator Ravi Kant Sharma, councilors of MCC, Medical Officer of Health Dr Amrit Warring and prominent persons of the city.

While addressing the gathering, Mr Tandon said each and every support needed by the Municipal Corporation or the city will be fulfilled at any cost and GAIL will provide other required machinery for the betterment of sanitation system and sewerage management system in near future.

He said GAIL provided support of Rs. 1.13 crore for the seven tippers (dumpers) while the financial support for the 142 tri-cycles was Rs 35 lakhs.

Shakti Parkash Devshali expressed thanks over the support by GAIL to the Municipal Corporation including dustbins, tippers, cycle carts among others.


He said so far, GAIL, India’s premier natural gas company, has provided Rs 3.40 crores under the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ in Chandigarh only. This includes providing 2,900 plastic dustbins to MCC with a financial support of Rs. 1.15 crore, Rs. 70.8 lakhs for installation of 400 Stainless Steel Dual bin dustbins at various prominent locations in Chandigarh and Rs 6.50 lakhs for 200 plastic dustbins at Chandigarh High Court.
Earlier, IAS, Special Commissioner, MCC Sanjay Jha welcomed all the dignitaries during the programme and expressed special thanks to Independent Director of GAIL Sanjay Tandon for the time to time support to the Municipal Corporation.

Art & Culture team of local BJP unit also staged a nukkar natak titled “Kudedaan ka Sahi Istemaal” based on Swachh Bharat Mission.
