Pakistan-born actor sacked from British soap opera over 'racist' tweets about Indians
Marc Anwar played the character of Sharif Nazir in the soap opera.
He joined the soap opera in 2014.
"The Pakistan-born actor – TV’s love cheat Sharif Nazir – branded Indians “b*****ds” and “p**s-drinking c**ts”," mirror.co.uk reported.
Broadcaster ITV in a statement, which was quoted by the website, said: " “We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar."
"We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect,” it said.
