Aishwarya to play Dalbir Kaur's role in Omung Kumar's 'Sarabjit'
Mumbai, June 5 (IBNS): The biopic on Sarbjit Singh has created much intrigue. The industry and media have been waiting with anticipation to see who would play the role of Dalbir Kaur, Sarbjit Singh's sister.The makers have announced that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be playing the lead.
Confirming the news, Producer of ‘Sarbjit’, Sandeep Singh says, “Yes it is true, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be playing the role of Dalbir Kaur Singh. The role demanded a very strong character with a powerful aura, and Aishwarya perfectly fits the bill. She has given spectacular performances in all her previous movies and we are confident that she will do justice to this role. After producing Aligarh and co-producing Mary Kom, I realized that content driven films are my calling which further motivated me to take up Sarbjit, that will create an impact and inspire the audience as well as the youth worldwide.”

She says, “I am delighted to hear that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be playing my character in the movie Sarbjit. She is a very fine actress with two decades of experience in Indian & International films and a very strong personality amongst the viewers as well. I have full faith in her and I am sure that she will do justice to my character and bring out the real emotions behind my struggle".
‘Sarbjit’ is to be directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sandeep Singh, Zeeshan Quadri and Omung Kumar.

The shoot of the film is scheduled to commence in October 2015 and will be released at Cannes in May 2016.
