5.5 earthquake hits Japan

Tokyo, Oct 3 (IBNS) An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Japan on Friday, officials said.

The quake hit the Iwate-ken Oki region at around 9.57 JST.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located at latitude 40.2 degree north and longitude 142.6 degree east, Japan Meteorological Agency website said.

There has been no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to property.
