Kolkata/Howrah, Feb 12 (IBNS): Hours after an aged businessman and his wife were stabbed inside their residence in Kolkata's Kalighat area, the main accused in the case, Roshanlal Bhardia, was found dead from a guest house under Golabari Police Station limits in Kolkata's twin city Howrah on Sunday morning, reports said.

According to reports, nearly 52-year-old businessman Narendra Jain and his 40-year-old wife Sarala Jain were allegedly stabbed multiple times by their relative Roshanlal and his companion inside an apartment (Upasana Apartment) at Kali Temple Road area under Kalighat Police Station limits on Saturday night.

After being rescued in serious conditions, the Jain couple were rushed to a private hospital in Kolkata's Ekbalpur area, while the attackers managed to escape from the scene.

Later on Sunday morning, one of the accused, Roshanlal Bhardia, was found dead from a guest house in north Howrah's Golabari area.

His companion in the crime, whose identity has not been confirmed yet, is still absconding, police officials said.

"It's confirmed that Roshanlal Bhardia, whose body was recovered from Golabari guest house, was the main accused of stabbing a senior couple in Kolkata's Kalighat area," a senior official of Howrah City Police told IBNS.

"We have identified another accused in the case and have started search operation to catch him. We won't reveal further information as the investigation is at a primary stage," the officer added.

The preliminary report of his post-mortem stated that poison had been found inside Roshanlal's stomach, according to officials.

"We have started investigation into the case to confirm whether Roshanlal Bhardia committed suicide or he was murdered," an official said.

Meanwhile, police has recovered an unidentified man's body near Howrah railway station in the morning and are trying to know if there is any connection between these cases.
