Bihar: Mathematician Anand Kumar says job scandals undermine state honour

Patna, Feb 10 (TheBIharPost/IBNS): Renowned mathematician Anand Kumar, who has earned worldwide acclaim for transforming the life of hundreds of underprivileged children through his free coaching institute, ‘Super 30’, has expressed shock over the recently surfaced appointment scandal in Bihar.

“It has shocked us a lot as more than spoiling the career of genuine candidates, it is earning a very bad name for Bihar,” Kumar said, reacting to the question paper leak of a competitive exam conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Collection.

“It’s very bad to get jobs with the help of money. It ruins the career of genuine and meritorious students,” Kumar said, urging the state government to deal severely with the accused persons so that they would not dare to repeat the crime.

He said the government should crack down ruthlessly on such mafias like it did in case of liquor mafias by enforcing total prohibition in the state.

Kumar also asked the students not to lose heart and be always alert to expose such things by bringing the matter to the knowledge of the government when they come to know about it.

At the same time he came down heavily on the parents who encourage their children get jobs with the help of money.

“Shame on such parents who try to procure jobs for their incompetent children with the help of money and earning a very bad name for the state,” Kumar said adding Bihar would march ahead only when merit is allowed to flourish.

The scandal surfaced this weekend, prompting chief minister Nitish Kumar to order a thorough probe into the matter.

Based on reports of the Special Investigation Team, the state government has cancelled the examinations.

The probe took a curious turn when SIT arrested and jailed the BSSC secretary Parmeshwar Ram for his alleged involvement in the case.

Based on certain leads, the SIT arrested six other people, including owner of a private school in Patna Ramashish Singh, Ram Sunder Singh, school manager, loco pilot Alok Ranjan and Rameshwar Kumar, who is the owner of a coaching institute.
