India Blooms News Service

Albuquerque, Nov 10 (IBNS) A 23-year-old Mexican national Jaime Jesus Sanchez-Ramoson Friday pleaded guilty to a bank robbery charge under a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

At sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled, Sanchez-Ramos faces a maximum penalty of 20 years of imprisonment. He will be deported after he completes his prison sentence.

Sanchez-Ramos was arrested on April 10 on a criminal complaint charging him with robbing a bank on April 2.

On May 8, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Sanchez-Ramos with robbing the following four Santa Fe-area banks: (1) Century Bank, 1790 St. Michael’s Drive, on January 26; (2) New Mexico Bank and Trust, 1549 Paseo de Peralta, on February 15; (3) Bank of Albuquerque, 706 St. Michael’s Drive, on March 16; and (4) U.S. Bank, 3787 Cerrillos Road, on April 2.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales said that during this morning’s proceedings, Sanchez-Ramos pleaded guilty to count of the indictment, charging him with robbing U.S. Bank on April 2.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Sanchez-Ramos is required to pay full restitution to the four banks identified in the indictment, and the three remaining counts of the indictment will be dismissed after Sanchez-Ramos is sentenced.

The case was investigated by the FBI Santa Fe Resident Agency and the Santa Fe Police Department and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lynn W.Y. Wang and C. Paige Messec.
