New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished Pinarayi Vijayan who took oath as the Kearala Chief Minister.

"Congrats to Pinarayi Vijayan & his team. Centre looks forward to working closely with the newly sworn-in LDF Govt. for Kerala’s progress," he tweeted.

Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala.

He earlier in the day met Governor P. Sathasivam and submitted a list of his 19-member Cabinet, media reports said.

Large number of people attended the stadium where the oath-taking ceremony took place.

The CPI (M) chose Vijayan, 72, as the chief ministerial candidate after the election results were announced on  May 19.

The Left coalition or the Left and Democratic Front (LDF) unseated the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) to regain power after five years by winning 90 of the 140 Assembly seats..

Vijayan served for 17 years as the CPI (M)'s Kerala state secretary.  He has been elected to the state assembly five times and won this year's election from Dharmadam constituency by a margin of 36,000 votes.
