Will expel those involved in vandalism: BJP state President Samik Bhattacharya warns workers and Bengal victory
Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya on Tuesday warned of strict action against party workers found involved in vandalism during post-poll celebrations in West Bengal, asserting that such individuals would be expelled from the party.
Speaking to ANI, the BJP leader said incidents had come to light where some people, carrying party flags, engaged in acts of vandalism.
“We strongly condemn such actions. If anyone is found involved, we will be compelled to expel them from the party,” he said.
He emphasised that maintaining peace remains a top priority for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“We appeal to our workers to remain peaceful and not hurt anyone’s sentiments,” Bhattacharya added.

The BJP is poised to form its first-ever government in West Bengal after a sweeping victory, winning 207 seats in the Assembly elections. The outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress secured only 80 seats, marking a dramatic shift in the state’s political landscape.
Adhikari Defeats Banerjee in Bhabanipur
In one of the most significant upsets of the election, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency by a margin of 15,114 votes.
The result, declared after an intense and closely watched counting process, has sent shockwaves across West Bengal politics, ending Banerjee’s long-standing dominance in one of Kolkata’s most symbolic constituencies.
Mamata Refuses to Resign, Attacks EC
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India, calling it a “villain” following the BJP’s landslide win.
Refusing to step down, she maintained that her party’s fight was not against the BJP but against the Election Commission. “If I had lost, I would have resigned. But if anyone thinks I will step down under pressure, that is not going to happen,” she said at a press conference in Kolkata.
