J&K: Young boy dies after being hit by teargas shell, death toll reaches 4
Srinagar, Apr 13 (IBNS): A young boy was killed after being hit by a teargas shell in Drugmulla area of north Kashmir on Wednesday, taking the death toll to four in less than 24 hours.
According to reports, the people were protesting against the killings of three persons including a woman in north Kashmir on Tuesday.
“Some youths were trying to target an army camp during protest and the police swung into action, meanwhile a teargas shell hit a young boy in head who later died on way to hospital,” said a police official.
On Tuesday, some Indian army men killed two civilians who were protesting against the alleged molestation attempt in north Kashmir Handwara town.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed across Kashmir valley on Wednesday to protest the killing of three civilians. The strike call was issued by JKLF Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq besides heads of other separatist groups.
All shops and business establishments remained closed in Srinagar and other district headquarters of the valley while public transport remained off the roads.
Curfew-like restrictions were imposed in several areas of Srinagar besides several other parts of the valley to stem protests against the civilian killings.
