Top Chinese official Li Zhanshu visits Nepal, holds political meetings

Kathmandu: The third highest ranking leader of the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhansu is currently visiting Nepal and he met crucial leaders including Speaker of the Himalayan nation Agni Prasad Sapkota.

The Chinese leader is currently on a four-day visit to Nepal.

The speaker and officials of the Federal Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had welcomed Li earlier at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, reports The Himalayan Times.

After the courtesy meeting, a bilateral meeting was held between the Chinese delegation and Speaker Sapkota, the newspaper reported.

Secretariat of the speaker said the chief whip of the party in the Parliament, whip and member of the team of the Nepal-China Friendly Parliamentary Group were also present at the meeting.

During his stay, Li Zhanshu will pay courtesy calls on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on September 14 and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on September 13, the newspaper reported.

Nepal is scheduled to host general elections soon.
