Pakistani police rescued a woman after she was mobbed by a crowd for allegedly wearing a kurta with Arabic prints, which people allegedly mistook as verses from Quran.

The woman was accused of blasphemy and the crowd mobbed her when she was spotted in the kurta in a Lahore restaurant.

The mob reportedly asked the woman to take off her kurta.

In a video that has gone viral, a woman cop could be seen pacifying the situation and later on rescuing the woman.

Punjab Police shared the video on X where IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar was quoted as saying: "ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, the brave SDPO of Gulbarg Lahore, put her life in danger to rescue a woman from a violent crowd. For this heroic deed, the Punjab Police has recommended her name for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), the highest gallantry award for law enforcement in Pakistan."

The woman was taken to the police station where she apologised for hurting religious sentiments.

A Muslim cleric who was present when the woman issued her apology, added that she has promised not to wear the shirt again, reported India Today.
