Pakistan created Taliban to counter India: Ex-Afghanistan envoy

| @indiablooms | Aug 31, 2021, at 12:02 am

A former Afghan envoy has cited ex-Pakistan president  General Pervez Musharraf to say that Pakistan created the Taliban in an attempt to counter India.

"According to @P_Musharraf 'Pakistan gave birth to the Taliban to counter Indian action against it.' @ImranKhanPTI believes the Taliban have 'broken the shackles of slavery.' @SMQureshiPTI & @YusufMoeed are currently busy lobbying the world to engage with the Taliban," he tweeted.

"Almost all foreign members of ISIL-K and Al-Qaida have entered Afghanistan via Pakistan. Their leaders & that of the Taliban have been living (some dying/killed) in Pakistan. UN report https://undocs.org/S/2021/486 establishes the symbiotic ties between ISIL-K, Taliban & Al-Qaida," he said.

On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul.

President Ashraf Ghani resigned and fled the country to prevent what he described as bloodshed that would occur if militants stormed the city.

Many countries have since started evacuating their citizens and diplomatic personnel from Afghanistan.

Anti-Taliban demonstrations are taking place in different parts of the globe.
